☀️ Summer in Chinese Medicine: The Peak of Yang and Heart Energy ♥️

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), each season corresponds to a particular energetic dynamic. Summer, the season of the Fire element, represents the full blossoming of Yang, this warm, expansive and dynamic energy. It is a period of openness, growth, influence... just like nature in full bloom.

🔥 The Fire element: the warmth of life

Fire is associated with the Heart (Xin), the Small Intestine, but also with the Heart Master (Pericardium) and the Triple Heater, the four organs associated with this season.

The Heart, the central organ of summer, is much more than a physiological pump: in TCM, it is the master of Blood, but also the home of Shen—our mind, our consciousness, our emotions, our presence.

When the Heart is harmonious, we feel:

  • Natural and peaceful joy

  • Quality sleep

  • Clear thinking, a good memory

  • Fluent and sincere communication.

But if the Fire becomes excessive (especially due to external heat, stress, emotional or dietary overload), the Shen can be disturbed.

❗ Signs of Heart Imbalance in Summer:

  • Insomnia, nighttime awakenings, mental agitation

  • Palm palpitations, nervousness, anxiety

  • Excessive sweating (especially with the slightest exertion)

  • Red tongue, mouth ulcers

  • Difficulty concentrating or emotional instability.

🧘🏻‍♀️ How to live in harmony with summer?

Here are some tips from Chinese tradition to help you get through the summer smoothly and nourish your inner Fire without burning it:

🍉 1. Light, hydrating and colorful food

  • Focus on fresh, hydrating, and water-rich foods: watermelon, cucumber, zucchini, mint, green tea, melon, strawberries, salads, etc.

  • Prioritize steamed or light cooking, limiting fried foods and overly fatty or spicy dishes that increase internal heat.

  • Eat red foods (the color of the Heart) like tomatoes, cherries, raspberries, etc. 🍓🍒🍉🍎

☀️ 2. Adapt your lifestyle to the solar cycle

  • Get up early and take advantage of the morning light, a great source of Yang energy.

  • Slow down at midday: avoid intense physical exertion during the hottest hours.

  • Go to bed a little later, but don't neglect the quality of your sleep.

💃🏻 3. Cultivate joy… without exhausting yourself

  • Summer is a season of social openness, joy, and sharing.

  • Go out, meet people, laugh, dance... but be careful not to get distracted or overstimulated.

  • Practice gentle activities like Qigong, meditation, or simply conscious breathing to nourish the Shen.

💆‍♀️ In case of imbalance: think of Chinese Medicine

Acupuncture, Chinese pharmacopoeia, and dietary advice help restore balance to the Heart and soothe the Shen.

During a consultation, we can identify excess or deficient energy, harmonize the Heart Fire, and support your body so it can get through the summer smoothly.

✨This summer, listen to your heart, slow down, breathe... and let your Shen shine.

A luminous season to live fully, in awareness of the present moment.🌿

There you go 🥰 Take care of yourself ♥️
